You ask, we answer
We’re here to make getting started simple and transparent. Below are answers to common questions about contacting our practice, scheduling a visit, and what to expect.
If you don’t see your question here, please reach out — we’re happy to help.
Do you take health insurance?
Currently no, we are a cash based practice due to a majority of insurance companies not covering weight loss medications or having inconsistent coverage.
Do I need a referral to schedule an appointment?
No, we only prescribed FDA approved medications as the FDA “cannot assure that compounded drugs have the same safety, efficacy, and purity of FDA-approved medications that have gone through clinical trial testing” per statement by the Obesity Medicine Association
What do you offer beyond just seeing my primary care doctor?
We offer comprehensive weight management including unlimited access to a board certified obesity medicine physician and registered dietician (coming soon), through messaging and telehealth visits
Is the first consultation free?
Yes, the initial consultation with Dr. Bird is free of charge which will be an introduction to the practice and potential plan for you.
Does the monthly fee include the cost of medications and labs?
No, the $150 monthly fee covers unlimited appointments and messages with Dr. Bird as well as our registered dietician once hired. Weight loss medications and labs are not covered in this cost and must be paid for separately.
